You all could post comments about stuff you see to keep everyone up to date and entertain while I'm away.

To Australia I Go
I am off to Australia for two weeks. I will try to post a couple of times from there but may not be able to. Please come back for Lingerie Labor Day Monday on Sept. 1st.

Please Don't Be This Daring

This week's don't is really more of a dare. Don't let someone dare you into lace leggings with only a white oxford and layered jacket. At least, at least, wear opaque leggings. I actually once saw a woman on 59th Street wearing sheer black tights with what was essentially a tank and cropped fur jacket on top. I could see her thong. No.
I'm sure Shopbop doesn't intend anyone to actually wear an outfit like this but wished to show off the lace leggings.

Masked Ball

Sorry I haven't had much to post about yesterday and today. I am feeling there is a lack of inspiring fashion this week or maybe I am just too distracted getting ready for Australia. Either way, this masked image struck me from the September issue of Elle. Again, it takes me back to Gossip Girl and the masked ball.
Here is something I would really like to know. How many of you had masked balls to attend in High School? Or post High School? If there are any going on in NYC this fall, I'm available!

Holmes-Yang

I saw this dress on Katie Holmes yesterday and thought it looked nice but not necessarily post-worthy. Well, today I find out that she co-designed it with Jeanne Yang. Now, this is worth talking about. What do we think? I like it, I think it is attractive and simple and very in keeping with the trends: pencil skirt, some ruffle up top. Is it a dress? Skirt and top?
No where to buy it yet... Can't wait to see what else comes out of that line. She really is following in Posh's footsteps, no?

Blumarine's High-Wire Act

While this dress looks aptly suited for a high-wire acrobatic act, I would love to have somewhere to wear it. The feathery pieces and the glints of bling are right up my alley.

Cardigans For Fall

I like this twist on the classic cardigan. The lines give it a bit of a mock-corset appearance.
It's not up here yet but it will be at cynthiarowley.com

Harajuku Lovers

I love these cute perfume bottles from Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers line. Maybe not for me but as gifts for the wee ones.

Striped Leggings

Stripes for our legs rather than a zebras. These cute leggings are from Juicy Couture. Of course. Whimsical and fanciful but what to wear them with?

Frilly and Fabulous

I love this pale pink, ruffled Valentino dress, especially in contrast with the navy coat. The details on the coat: the buttons and pockets, give it that little something extra.

Lingerie Dresses Monday

A little something different today.
In the September Vanity Fair style issue, there was a great article on "When Supermodels Ruled the Earth". One of the photos featured the 6 main supermodels in dresses by Dolce & Gabbana that were gorgeous and looked as if they could double as lingerie.

Til Monday
I am headed to my last summer wedding tomorrow in LA. (We have one more in the fall.) This promises to be a good party and I can't wait. See you Monday.
The Classic Trench Coat

The trench coat appears in ads, in magazines and in movies every fall. And every fall I think, "I should get a trench coat" but I never do. I always lose steam or buy a different cute, more fashion-forward jacket. My mom, on her "classics" shopping spree, scooped up the classic Burberry trench above. It is beautiful. I was looking for a lower cost version for now (I'll get a Burberry at some later date- much later) and came across this great Banana Republic version. It retains a lot of the same classic characteristics.

Fall From J Crew
I always use J Crew for staples in the fall- namely cashmere sweaters and corduroys. When I was in there yesterday, a couple things caught my eye that were just off the "staple" track and more of accent pieces for fall.
This cotton taffeta belle skirt in fog was very cute and simple, with pockets. Also available in a bright yellow, a pinkish/red color and a blue.

I loved this donegal tweed ecole jacket, shown here in pumpkin, but also available in other colors: black, evergreen and sea green.

This soiree jacket (really a sweater) with the glitzy accents struck me immediately. The one I saw was a nice heather grey, the color pictured is honey glaze.

A "No" We Can Learn From

What is this new trend (mainly seen on Katie Holmes) of rolling up tapered jeans? Remember when we used to fold over the jeans and then roll them up or tuck them into socks.... Yeah, it was bad then and it's bad now. I'm gonna have to go ahead and call this a "No."
I like the outfit from the waist up though.

Orange!

I love this orange Monique Lhuiller Scarlett Johansson is wearing at the premiere of her new Woody Allen movie Vicky Christina Barcelona. It is so different and vibrant. I'm not sure I love the jewelry accompaniment, it seems a bit busy for this dress but the overall picture is good.
Teen Choice Style Winners

There were a couple great dresses at the Teen Choice Awards. Blake Lively and Rachel Bilson were no surprise, in Tadashi Shoji and Brian Reyes respectively. Vanessa Hudgens in Catherine Malandrino was a bit of a style surprise though. Both her and the dress.

adidas by Stella McCartney

I've always liked the adidas by Stella McCartney collections but the new fall collection looks particularly promising. It delivers amazing Stella McCartney creations at an affordable price and, added bonus, you are meant to get the items good and sweaty. My favorite outfit was from the GymDance collection (above). There is something about those ballet-esque flats, leg warmers and the bubble shorts that make me want to sign up for a dance class.
And for going to and from the gym, I love this jacket and bag.

These tennis skirts are so cute I'm thinking we may see them on some girls during the U.S. Open. I think I may trade out my shorts for one of these more feminine styles.

You might see me on a golf course if I can wear this great jacket. Stella is very into the bubble hem this season. I'm liking it.

The hats and scarves from the Wintersport collection remind me very much of Stella McCartney Fall '05 or '06. Cozy prints on winter wear. I need this hat... and potentially the full body snowsuit for Minnesota Christmases.

The collection is available in stores and should be online soon. This too makes me ready for fall, but I don't want to rush away the rest of summer. It's hard though when you're loading up on so much great cold weather gear.

Up Close and Personal

When I was walking through the Cleveland airport yesterday, I glanced at a magazine stand and the cover of Entertainment Weekly caught my eye. It was such an interesting cover and stood out from all the other magazines on the shelf. So... I bought it. I was in an airport and bored and while I hate to admit it, I do still watch the Hills. I was interested to see what EW had to say about the whole thing.

The article was okay, it was sort of interesting reading about how they plan filming every week, but the two dresses Lauren was sporting were great. EW doesn't credit these dresses anywhere in the magazine or online- as far as I can find. It is very frustrating. So, I bring you two great dresses, sans designer name for now, hopefully we can find them soon. They aren't Lauren Conrad collection- I looked for that- plus they seem a bit too fancy to be from her collection right now.

Up and Coming

Will she be the next "America's Sweetheart"? Emma Roberts (Julia's niece) sure is looking cute in this jumper-dress by Sea and she has the name, smile and genes. I looked for some Sea items and found a few on revolveclothing.com but nothing as cute as what Emma is donning.

Wedding Style

You may remember I mentioned Amanda Peet and I having a similar "wedding style" as my planner put it. Well, here are those pictures I mentioned. Above is the photo I used to describe to my florist, Urban Dahlia, what I wanted. Below is a picture of my bouquet, she did a great job creating what I wanted.
And then here is a picture of Amanda's wedding gown, I also ended up with a black sash/belt.
Speaking of weddings, I am headed to Delphos, OH for my cousin's wedding this weekend. Be back Monday.images from usmagazine.com and vogue magazine

Juicy Juicy

I just bought this Juicy Couture cashmere sweater dress and I love it. It fits great and is so soft. Initially I was worried that the neck might be boat neck-like but it really isn't. More crew neck than boat neck. I can't wait to wear it with tights and my booties this fall. When is it gonna get cooler?? Also in black.
Again, I did the same day New York Premiere delivery service from Net-a-Porter. Amazing.
