OMG! It's Here!

Sex & The City has arrived and I am going to see it tonight with a bunch of girlfriends (and actually as part of a bachelorette- perfect timing). I have not read, nor will I read, any reviews until after I see the movie and form my own opinions. What I can judge right now is the above banner for the movie... Who's that girl on the left? The marred image (found on the NYTimes website) reminds me of the time Charlotte opened the NYTimes Wedding announcements and saw an ink blot on her face. Poor girl.

I must say I am a big fan of Gwen's chic look as her belly grows. She seems to be queen of the long, draping dress which looks comfortable and glamorous at the same time. The platinum hair looks amazing against the black coat and dress and check out those platform heels.

The Black Wedding Dress

I didn't buy the people magazine with Ashlee Simpson's wedding photos but I did grasp for it shamelessly at the dentist today. The wedding dress? Fine- white, lacy, strapless. The party dress? Awesome. It is from Monique Lhuillier's fall '08 collection which means we too can wear this fabulous gown.

Rugby

In driving through Greenwich, CT yesterday, we were struck by a store on Greenwich Avenue called Rugby. It was clear before I even saw the "by Ralph Lauren" in the window that this was a Ralph Lauren product. Polo shirts with a rugby player where a horse should have been and chinos in a variety of colors including the ubiquitous summer color: Nantucket Red. What was also clear was that this is a direct competitor for Abercrombie & Fitch but with a legitimate, classic brand name to back it up and perhaps without the semi-pornographic ads... though that is yet to be seen. And while there may not have been real live half-naked models standing around the store (like the A&F on 5th Avenue in NYC), there was a woman in a strapless dress bending over to fold a shirt and giving everyone a great view down said dress.



There are 11 stores strategically positioned around the country, mostly in college towns. And though I don't think I'll be buying anything anytime soon (out of the demographic, sadly), I did like their logo with the skull and cross bones and I'm eager to see how the competition between Rugby and Abercrombie shakes out.

Liv's New Shorter Do

Liv Tyler had gone the way of the Gwyneth cut but seems to have trimmed it up a bit to hit above the shoulders. I like it. The TRL outfit is also very cute and appropriate and while I'd never buy those peep toe booties, they do go with the ensemble.

Thread Social Stripes

This is a very cute summer dress by Thread Social, in khaki and white wide stripes with ruffle detailing around the neck. This tunic top, in gray and white wide stripes, has cute sleeve shape. Not too puffy but not your typical short-sleeve.

Spring Chloe

Chloe is one of my favorite brands, particularly in the realm of bags, wallets and shoes. I love the Saskia bag above, in pink gold metallic python and white leather. And I still really like the Bay bag, more structured and in bold colors.

For those in NYC or visiting NYC, a trip to the Balenciaga store on West 22nd St is absolutely worth it. Situated amid high end galleries, the store is a gallery in itself. Upon entering the store, you walk down a long concrete hallway and enter into a large loft expanse. Clothes, bags and shoes are propped here and there on ledges, racks and sometimes in a cave-like space.
