Superhero Fashion

The Costume Institute at the Met is putting on an exhibit entitled, "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" from May 7, 2008 - Sept 1, 2008. Among the items shown is this Thierry Mugler Batman ensemble. This month's Vogue with Gwyneth Paltrow has an article about the exhibit, appropriate for the Iron Man movie Gwyneth is promoting.

How great is this dress? A product of Project Runway contestant Rami Kashou. In case you're not sure who that is, I have attached the googled image I found of him.


While his website shows a lot of pretty looking dresses, this one was only listed under "red carpet." I'd love to know where to find it.

Kelly Ripa looks great in this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. I used to be a HUGE Marc by Marc fan but haven't seen anything I wanted in a l o n g while. This dress could lure me back. While it definitely takes some 'tude to wear, what with the slightly asymmetrical top, it also holds a classic shape. Plus, it has pockets. Sold.

Rodarte and other designers teamed up with Elle to create one-off organic dresses. Theirs was my favorite. Unfortunately, you can't actually buy it. Those sorts of things frustrate me. Why make something and put it out there if no one can buy it?

Sweet Mayle

Mayle is one of those brands that can be totally hit or miss for me but I still like going to their store in Soho regardless. This season they've done it right. This Lilly dress is so sweet and I love the peek-a-boo back.

These Munoz Shorts look amazing and I like the Nieves shirt paired with it.


This Talisa Jacket looks like you could throw it on right before walking out the door on a date and look totally put together.

Gladiators- Do or Die?
