Dear Chanel

Why must your bags cost so much?

I have not yet gone the Chanel-bag route. That is where I draw the line. A blurry line, yes, but a line. This bag may be my favorite Chanel yet and now at the top of my lust-list. In a bright color not often seen from Chanel and with a new take on "quilting," it's a rock n' roll twist on a classic design.

Wide Leg Jeans

Apparently wide-leg jeans haven't gone out of style yet which is good for me as I am a bit late to the trend. I am going to check out this pair by Goldsign called "Lotus." Wondering if the seam down the front of each pant leg will have a slimming effect? Or not.

A New Old-Fashioned Vest

The vest is a trend that you see in ads and it looks great but you wonder how to wear that in real life. I actually do own a vest, a similar style as this from See by Chloe, and it really comes in handy. When a t-shirt or tank doesn't feel like enough but it's too warm for a sweater or jacket.

Mike & Chris

Mike & Chris make beautiful slim fitting leather jackets in an array of colors- grey, black, brown. The leather is so so soft. I have seen cropped, slouchy, motorcycle and this almost wrap sweater-style jacket. I also loved this cardigan- a cotton/cashmere blend.

The Blanc Collection

The Blanc Collection by 3.1 Phillip Lim is good for P. Diddy's white party but also an excellent alternative to the ultra-expensive wedding dress. In the price range of a J Crew but with a designer name. This dress is one of several I saw at Barneys that I thought were aisle worthy.

Lanvin

I adore Lanvin accessories. The accessories first caught my eye at Susan, a boutique in San Francisco, in the form of a headband. Black velvet with jeweled detailing. Since then, the necklaces that have appeared in her last several collections have caught my eye repeatedly.

Polyester

Couldn't believe I was reading in Vogue, I think it was, that polyester is back and was used in several of the spring shows. Nina Ricci showed this shockingly gorgeous polyester pleated dress. While this trend is fine for the couture set, I hope it doesn't trickle down to the mainstay fashions. I don't know if I can take a polyester comeback.


Also by Nina Ricci this cozy looking outfit. I think the pants are satin, which is different, but I bet they feel super soft and are good for lounging around. Plus, maybe my face and arm will do that if I wear this.

Nylon as Upscale

I originally saw this bag (or a version of it) on Kate Moss in an ad for Tod's a year ago. I know it was a year ago as I was contemplating purchasing it for my sister as a graduation present. We had drooled over a similar Stella McCartney bag a couple years previous. But, I resisted, and as with most things I don't buy, I forgot about it. Until today... A woman in the elevator had this bag in a ruby color and it all came back. I still like it, but I also still think it's a lot to spend on a mostly nylon bag. Not that I haven't spent money on a nylon bag in the past. Hello Miu Miu.

The Perfect Tee

Everyone needs the perfect tee. And the perfect tee to me means you can dress it up and dress it down. I am currently living in these by James Perse. In a size larger than I would normally wear, it's sort of like you borrowed your husband/boyfriend/lovers tee. Slouchy, comfy, with a sexy low v-neck.

My husband and I discovered this brand/store while on honeymoon in Paris and then he surprised me with this coat by Manoush at Christmas. I love it and it goes over sweaters or just a tank.

They are called Kate Jeans, appropriately, and are by Seven for All Mankind. Extremely comfortable and excellent fit. Highly recommend.

Hung Up

Is it a boot? Is it a pump? It is fabulous. I owned these a year ago and stupidly returned them. I saw them again at the new Barneys in San Francisco last week and can think of nothing else since. They also come in a beautiful camel color.
